Salty Southside cocktail recipe
Love a good Southside? Check out our variation on this classic cocktail featuring our Havana cocktail rimmer - raw cane sugar infused with grapefruit, lime and mint.
For this recipe we're using Empress 1908 Gin - an award winning Canadian gin inspired by the beautiful tea service at the iconic Empress Hotel in Victoria, BC. Empress 1908 Gin is 100% natural. It is infused with the vibrantly-hued butterfly pea blossom, added for its subtle earthy flavour but resulting in a singularly distinct expression - an impossibly lush and vivid indigo blue. Once you shake it up you get this beautiful hazy purple colour!
We are so excited to announce that we've partnered with Empress 1908 Gin to host our latest Salty Woman Series 3: Breaking Through, held on September 30th, at the Drake Hotel. Founded by Amanda Chen of Salty Paloma, the Salty Woman project is a one year creative commitment to showcase the work of entrepreneurial women in Toronto that are impacting social change. Our last two Salty Woman events raised $625 for the Barbra Schlifer Clinic, a local non-profit that offers legal representation, professional counselling and multilingual interpretation to women who have experienced abuse. This time, we’ll be donating 100% of ticket sales to the Dandelion Initiative, a non-profit providing training for safer spaces and protecting sexual harassment in bars.
This series in particular is really close to my heart as we celebrate women that are impacting change. As women we are often put in the spotlight more based on our looks than our voice and it’s time we speak more about this experience and work together on moving away from judgment and stigma so that we can tackle hard topics about real issues we as women experience on a daily basis.
